The Army’s SRB program offers bonuses to soldiers in critical military skills. It’s designed to encourage reenlistments in critical military occupational specialties (MOS) and job codes.

Retaining our experienced and qualified Marines remains one of the Commandant’s top priorities. The FY23 SRB program strongly incentivizes eligible Marines to reenlist and continue their service in critical MOS / Job Codes. This is accomplished through a monetary incentive offered to all Marines reenlisting in those MOS / Job Codes based on specialty and time in service. HRC continually reviews the list of SRB-eligible MOS / Job codes to ensure it is meeting the program’s objectives and is aligned with enlisted retention manpower goals.
SRB payments may be delivered in the form of upfront payment or yearly installment payments. A servicemember’s initial SRB payment will be delivered no later than 30 days after their reenlistment date.
Regardless of whether the SRB payment is in the form of upfront payment or installments, the servicemember must serve in a billet requiring the PMOS / job code for which they received the SRB payment until their next ECC unless they apply and receive a waiver to do otherwise. Marines who reenlist or extend solely to gain sufficient obligated service for officer programs should contact their unit and request an extension of their current contract vice a reenlistment.
NMAs and Caregivers must coordinate leave or respite care requests with their designated Squad Leader (SL). The SL serves as the first line supervisor for the Soldier and is responsible for resolving administrative issues that may arise while ensuring military standards are enforced.
What is the Army SRB?
The Army SRB is a multi-component report that will eventually replace Officer and Enlisted Record Briefs. It is a Integrated Personnel and Pay System-Army (IPPS-A) component.
The SRB will provide all users with a one-stop shop for their personnel data. It will accommodate data specific to each user and be accessible in near real-time. The SRB will also provide users with a link to their iPERMS Soldier Talent Profile.
Upon IPPS-A’s first release, the SRB will be automatically populated with data from current HR systems. This will eliminate the need for double-entry and ensure that information is accurate. However, it is important for HR Professionals to continue to update their systems until IPPS-A’s first release in order to ensure that their SRB is correct.
SRB payments are intended to encourage reenlistments and retention in critical military skills. They are paid in addition to the base pay and allowances of a Marine’s enlistment contract. SRB payment amounts are adjusted as needed to reflect the service’s needs and requirements. For example, if the service requires a higher number of Marines with particular skill sets, then it may increase SRB payment levels accordingly.
Marines with a SRB are expected to serve in billets requiring the specialized skills they have received SRB payments for, unless they request an out-of-skill transfer or a waiver has been granted by HQMC. Marines receiving an SRB must be reenlisted for at least another four years to retain their bonus payments.
In addition to SRB payments, reenlistment and extension bonuses are also available for eligible Marines. However, these payments should not be used as a means to gain obligated service for participation in an officer program. Marines who intend to apply for an officer program should request a transfer to a future contract rather than reenlistment.
How Do I Access my Army SRB?
To access your SRB, log into iPERMS and click on “View SRB” under the Self-Service tab. You can also find a link to your SRB on the left side of your iPERMS screen under the My Profiles section. The SRB is your official personnel file, and it contains all the information about you that AFPC has in its databases. This includes your medical history, awards, unit assignments, and training records. The SRB is important for many reasons, including ensuring that all of your records are accurate and up-to-date.

Is ERB and SRB the same?

HR professionals will continue to use current systems to update a Soldier’s SRB until IPPS-A’s third release is fielded. Once the SRB is fully populated in IPPS-A, authorized users will make updates directly to the SRB, and the information will be updated in near real-time. The SRB will incorporate information from current systems for Active Duty, the Army Reserve, and the Army National Guard.
The SRB will also include information on soldiers’ military assignments and accomplishments. This will be based on records from the various component systems and will be updated based on a set refresh schedule. The SRB will provide the same level of data and accuracy as the ERB and ORB and will be a crucial part of the Army’s new centralized personnel system.
