DS Logon is an enterprise-level credential allowing beneficiaries affiliated with the Department of Defense (DoD) and Veterans Affairs to access multiple websites using a username and password. It is operated by the Defense Manpower Data Center. DS Logon is assigned to an individual based on their family relationships in Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS). An individual can only have one DS Logon account, regardless of the number of sponsors they have.
DS Logon is an enterprise credential that provides secure authentication to Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs websites, including eBenefits, TRICARE Online, Beneficiary Web Enrollment (BWE), and milConnect. It supports the Personnel Identity Protection (PIP) Directive and National Institute of Standards and Technology e-Authentication guidance. DS Logon also provides an alternative to Common Access Card (CAC) authentication for situations where CAC is not available or convenient.
Individuals can request a DS Logon account either directly from a DEERS record or remotely via the My Access Center website. Those requesting via remote proofing must correctly answer a series of system-generated questions to provision a Premium DS Logon credential.
An individual’s DS Logon account can be associated with multiple families based on the family relationship information stored in DEERS. These relationships are used to determine permissions granted to the DS Logon account. DS Logon accounts can be decommissioned by the individual, through self-service, by an operator, or by the system when the person no longer has an affiliation with DoD or is identified as deceased in DEERS.
How to Create DS Logon account?
The DS Logon registration process asks individuals to verify their identities. This is done to protect the privacy of individuals and ensure that the information being provided is accurate. Individuals may be asked to provide personal and financial information, such as a driver’s license or credit card, as part of the verification process. In addition, individuals may also be required to consent to a soft inquiry on their credit report and receive a one-time PIN via text message to the phone number they have on record.
Individuals can register for a DS Logon account online at the DS Login Self-Service site or DFAS myPay website. They can also obtain a premium DS Logon credential at TRICARE Service Centers and VA Regional Offices. Those applying for a DS Logon account must present their Common Access Card (CAC) or DFAS myPay number as proof of identity.
DS Logon is the Department of Defense Self-Service Logon system and provides secure enterprise credentials for accessing DoD and VA websites, including eBenefits, TRICARE Online, Beneficiary Web Enrollment (BWE), milConnect, and other sites that require a high level of authentication. It supports the Personnel Identity Protection Directive and National Institute of Standards and Technology e-Authentication guidance.
A DS Logon account can be a great way to access the services that veterans need, such as the premium eBenefits portal, which is the single entry point for health care, disability claims, and Veteran ID cards. You can even use it to check your Post-9/11 GI Bill Statement of Benefits.
Why Can’t I Create a DS Logon Account?
The Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) is the central access point for information and assistance on DOD entitlements, benefits, and medical readiness. It is also responsible for the DS Logon, which provides identity authentication to access various DoD websites. It is used to log into eBenefits and other websites like TRICARE Online, milConnect, RAPIDS Self-Service, Transition GPS, MySECO, and more. The DS Logon account is free to military personnel and veterans who are eligible to use it.
Eligible parties, including DoD sponsors, spouses and dependents (18 and older), retirees, and veterans enrolled in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS), can register for a Basic or Premium DS Logon account on line through the DS Logon Registration Wizard. To do so, they must correctly answer three personal questions to confirm their identity. If they successfully answer all three questions, they will be upgraded to a Premium eBenefits account.
Those who are not able to register for an account on the DS Logon website can visit VA Regional Offices and TRICARE Service Centers in person. In addition, they can also register for a Basic or Premium account using remote proofing through the My Access Center website. To do this, they will need to present a valid DFAS myPay or sponsor ID card and a current DEERS home address.
